What We Do

Compassionate, Trauma-Informed Care Across the Lifespan

At Mensink Counseling & Consulting, we specialize in building secure, healthy relationships, improving emotional regulation and stress management, enhancing communication, and developing effective coping strategies for life’s stressors. Our trauma-informed approach honors your personal history — including early childhood experiences, trauma, and relationship patterns — to help you create meaningful change, stronger connections, and a renewed sense of well-being.

Services

  • Support for Early Emotional Development & Attachment

Young children may struggle with big emotions, aggressive behavior, difficulty following rules, or challenges in connecting with others. Early intervention can make a powerful difference. We offer parent-child therapy services to help foster healthy emotional development, strengthen attachment, and address early trauma and stress.

Our approach includes working closely with both the child and caregiver to build regulation, coping skills, and healthy relationship patterns.

    Evidence-Based Interventions for Young Children:

    • Child-Parent Psychotherapy (CPP): Trauma-informed play therapy for children under 6 to process trauma and strengthen secure attachment.

    • Parent-Child Interaction Therapy (PCIT): Play-based treatment for children ages 2-9 to improve emotional regulation, compliance, attention, and behavior.

    • Circle of Security-Informed Therapy (COS-IT): Attachment-focused parent coaching for caregivers of children ages 2-15, designed to deepen emotional security and strengthen relationships.
